Sun Sung Lee Engineering Sdn Bhd is incorporated in 1980 under the Malaysian Company Act – 1965 as a private company limited by shares. The principal activities of the company are in the engineering field – fabrication of machinery, steel work, aluminum and stainless steel articles. Sun Sung Lee Engineering Sdn Bhd is also a registered Boiler and Pressure Vessel manufacturer with the Malaysian Department of Safety and Health (JKKP – Jabatan Keselamatan dan Kesihatan Pekerjaaan).

Our workshop situated in Valdor near Simpang Ampat, Seberang Perai Selatan, Penang, Malaysia has a built-up area of 4,800 square meters and another 2,000 square meters fabrication yard. The covered workshop has a head clearance of 12 meters high and is equipped with full facilities suitable for most type of engineering work.

YOUR ENGINEERING PARTNER, this has been the Company motto guiding our principle, goal and ideal ever since Sun Sung Lee Engineering Sdn Bhd was incorporated in 1980. The very same motto also guided our forebear Sung Lee Foundry established shortly after the Second World War.

In line with our Government vision of a developed Country status by year 2020, we believe our Company motto will lead us into active participation in the process of achieving this goal. Our objective toward this aim is to manufacture products and provide engineering services to the industry that will raise the standard of living in the Country.

To achieve this objective our products and services shall adhere to all the latest international codes and standards, by-laws and requirements meeting our country OSH Act. By being YOUR ENGINEERING PARTNER this company hopes to contribute towards society and nation building in a Safe and Healthy environment.

How we started

Pressure vessel (Retort) fabricated back in 1954 by the founder partner.

Our predecessor Sung Lee Foundry began business in the latter half of 1940s. At that time Malaya’s economy was centered on rubber and tin mining. As a foundry and machine shop, Sung Lee Foundry was an active participant in these industries. During those days, articles requiring higher manufacturing skills were imported. However, in those times Sung Lee Foundry was already manufacturing Pressure Vessels. A picture paints a thousand words and the one presented above bears a date of 1954. At that time there was only an Inspector of Machinery and the person represented the Department of Machinery.

During the country industrialization phase, Sung Lee Foundry successor Sun Sung Lee Engineering Sdn Bhd (meaning ‘New’ Sung Lee) was established. Much of the company’s business was focused on Site Project Work. Nevertheless, the core products remained Pressure Vessels and plant equipments for cement plants and oleo chemical plants. The company also built many latex glove lines on turnkey basis. The wide exposure in these businesses brought great wealth of experience in working with all kinds of material. Today we have welding procedures for wide ranging material from carbon steel to Monel.

Another major event for the company is the appointment by Scotts Boiler as the Malaysian manufacturer and sole agent for their package fire-tube boilers. And more recently, the company was also appointed as the Malaysian manufacturer and sole agent of Yoshimine Boilers of Japan for their P.O.M. water-tube boilers. This is a new business for the company. We look forward to this new millennium as a producer and service provider of value added products and services that will increase the standing of our customers and business partners.
